Specimen gold from the historically important gold mines of Georgia is rarely seen available on today's market. The cabinet sized example shown here is outstanding. The specimen consists of a 14.5 x 8.5 x 5.0 cm matrix, this with a white massive quartz vein approximately 2.0 cm thick running the length of the specimen. Within this quartz vein, scattered throughout, are bright masses of native gold. Some of the masses are as large as 0.6 cm in size. Excellent for the locality; neat as it exhibits the vein nature of the deposit. Brilliant lustrous cinnamon brown translucent crystals of grossular to 2.6 cm in diameter are set aesthetically upon a 6.0 x 3.5 x 2.4 cm matrix. The back of the matrix is sawn flat for trimming purposes, this not visible when the piece is displayed properly. No damage. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. I originally sold this to Mr. Tate and the locality was originally given to me as stated above. At the time I doubted the validity; I still do. The specimen is certainly from Pakistan/Afghanistan. Any help or suggestions are certainly welcome. There is no mistaking the quality of the crystals - it is extremely high for grossular! 1043126) Rhodochrosite - Poudrette quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire, Rouville RCM, Montérégie, Québec, Canada Size: 3.5 x 3.0 x 0.15 cm (miniature) Price: $ 320 ex. Rhodochrosite is a common late state mineral in pegmatites at this locality. Usually present in a variety of habits, the less common habit to be found here are the flattened trigonal twinned crystals like that shown above. An excellent miniature sized example for the species/twinning at this locality. Ex Lloyd Tate collection. Ref: The Mineralogical Record, 21, 332-333. 1043125) Rhodochrosite - Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru Size: 5.7 x 3.0 x 2.8 cm (miniature) Price: SOLD ex. Lloyd Tate Collection
